Refugee Crisis | #NeverLoseHope Campaign

The global refugee crisis was thrust into mainstream awareness when the devastating images of the three-year-old boy Alan Kurdi’s lifeless body face down on a Turkish beach went viral through global media in 2015.

Millions of people are forced to leave their home behind and face massive risk, adversity and uncertainty, with their lives not just on hold, but still very much as risk. There are also growing concerns that as we see the issue of climate change worsen, we’ll see more conflict and more draughts and hence more refugees.

Supporting Mental & Emotional Health of Refugees

One area in particular we’ve found is severally lacking, is the support with the mental and emotional health of refugees. The #NeverLoseHope Campaign is about driving awareness for this need and about rallying the support and resources to provide more support for refugees around this crucial need. The campaign is being spearheaded by former child refugee Gulwali Passarlay, author of The Lightless Sky and global advocate for the plight of refugees.

Our goal is to rally the support, resources and £20,000 by the end of 2021 to help 1000 refugees.

How You Can Get Involved

Right now there are two main ways you can get involved:

  1. Purchase The Lightless Sky Book – Proceeds from the book purchased through this link will enable Gulwali Passarlay to provide support sessions to refugees in need. The crowdfunding campaign will also give you more in return to help you in your career or social impact goals if you contribute more financially.
  2.  Become a Volunteer Ambassador – Perhaps you’d like to build your experience, contribute your skills, or help you develop new skillsets whilst supporting and growing the campaign. Register below if you’d like to learn more about becoming a Volunteer Ambassador for the campaign.

Become a Volunteer Ambassador

Would you like to explore how you could contribute your time and skills (and develop new ones) to refugee projects?

You could contribute in a whole host of ways not just the direct support of refugees, even if something as simple as sharing links on social media, right up to counselling refugees directly. We’ll design a volunteer role uniquely around your aspirations and very much around the experience and skills you’d like to develop too.

Fill in your details below and one of the team will be in touch ASAP.
